Baby, when we tell you hair shrinkage is real, believe us! However, this is common when it comes to afro-textured to kinky hair. It may seem as though maintaining an afro is hard work, but with patience and the right products, your afro can glow and pop the natural way!

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

If you’ve been following R&R Luxury for a while, you will notice that we stress hydration for everyday life. Think of the Peace Lilly plant. Anytime it goes without water for a few days, it almost flatlines. However, the moment you give it water, it pops back up full of life. Well, your hair is the same way. So be sure to drink at least eight ounces of water daily and add water to your hair frequently. Water can be added while detangling your hair or during use moisturising process.

Consistency + Routine = Bomb Afro

What is your hair routine? Better yet, do you even have one? 🤔 If the answer is ‘No,’ then Houston, we have a problem! Your routine should consist of a wash day where you wash, condition, and moisturise your afro. How frequently you wash your hair should be weekly to bi-weekly, using moisture-boosting products that will bring your hair to life.

Moisturise

Kinky hair needs lots of oil. You should have a go-to oil that is part of your routine. It is used to moisturize your hair and seal in your other products for them to work efficiently. Your product supple should consist of coconut oil, black castor oil, jojoba oil, or Baobab oil. Gently massage the oil into your scalp to get the blood circulating and to open up the follicles. Repeating this process will be sure to guarantee your hair growth.

Creating and executing a routine for your afro will become second nature once you make a simple routine. With consistency, you will notice a significant shift in the health of your hair that will make you proud.

Share your routine and pictures and show us how your keep your Afro poppin!
